Will Hughes was born in Augsburg, Germany and grew up in Europe and the United States.  In 1983 he obtained a B.B.A in Management and International Business from the University of Texas at Austin.  He joined the U.S. Army and served in Europe before receiving an honorable discharge in 1987. 

 

Mr. Hughes earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law (1990), graduating in the top 12% of the class (13 of 111).  While in law school Mr. Hughes worked for two Houston law firms and a title company.  He received two American Jurisprudence Awards and earned membership in the South Texas Law Review and the Order of the Lytae.  

 

After graduating from law school, Mr. Hughes was selected to be a briefing attorney for the honorable Justice James A. Baker, 5th District Court of Appeals at Dallas. Upon completing the appellate court clerkship in 1993, Mr. Hughes began working as an associate attorney at Adams & Graham, L.L.P.  He became a partner at Adams & Graham, L.L.P. in 1998 and continued to practice there until starting Hughes Health Law PLLC in 2022. 

 

Mr. Hughes has over 30 years of experience representing hospitals, physicians, nursing homes, and other health care entities in litigation and non-litigation related matters.  Mr. Hughes serves as a resource to hospitals and other health care providers on a number of issues including patient consent, withdrawal of life support, regulatory matters, contract issues, patient confidentiality, documentation, and statutory requirements. Mr. Hughes has extensive experience with physician, nursing, and medical committee peer review matters. He routinely gives seminars to health care providers on health-related legal issues.   

Mr. Hughes is admitted to practice before all state courts in Texas, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Texas, and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.  He has practiced before the Texas Medical Board, the Texas Board of Nursing, and the State Office of Administrative Hearings.  He is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in the areas of Health Law and Personal Injury Trial Law.  He is the only attorney in Texas to hold certifications in both areas of specialization.
