Since 2003 Mr. Hughes has been certified in Health Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He serves on the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS) Health Law Advisory Commission and has been a member and chair on the TBLS Health Law Exam Commission. He is also a member of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission’s Texas Medical Disclosure Panel (TMDP).
Mr. Hughes has assisted clients in conducting internal investigations in order to assess compliance with state and federal health care requirements. He has assisted clients self-disclose to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission’s Office of Inspector General as well as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General.
In a case featured in Texas Medicine, Mr. Hughes was successful at forcing a hospital to issue a retraction letter for a physician who was wrongfully peer reviewed.

PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY
Mr. Hughes is also board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law. For more than 30 years he has successfully defended health care providers and institutions against health care liability claims in state, federal and appellate courts. Client focused and driven by results, Mr. Hughes utilizes all avenues to get the results needed, including negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and jury trials.
Mr. Hughes routinely handles health care liability claims involving physicians, nurses, and other health care providers and individuals. In addition to professional malpractice cases, he has assisted clients in automobile, defective products, and negligence claims.
Mr. Hughes is a member of the State Bar of Texas Committee on Pattern Jury Charges (Red Book) for Malpractice, Premises and Products. This select committee publishes the book containing the jury questions that are used by judges and lawyers in medical malpractice, premises, and products liability cases.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Mr. Hughes received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law (1990) and has practiced law ever since.

Will Hughes established Hughes Health Law PLLC in 2022 to serve the legal needs of health care providers in Texas.

With over 30 years of experience, Mr. Hughes represents health care clients in litigation, non-litigation, and compliance matters. His practice areas include health law, professional liability and litigation.
